Norway’s EUREKA PUMPS AS Opening Canadian Operation in St. John’s
St. John’s March April 2, 2014– – Today EUREKA PUMPS AS of Norway, in association with Pennecon Energy Technical Services Limited, announced the opening of their new Canadian office in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. EUREKA PUMPS NFLD Ltd is beginning with sales and project management, and plans to expand to include supervision of EUREKA’s After Sales Service activities in the region.
Building on each other’s expertise and regional opportunities, Pennecon and EUREKA PUMPS are working together to expand capacity and innovation in this part of the world. Pennecon is a Canadian leader in major project management, installation, construction and commissioning, on land and offshore, and is among the most respected multi-discipline construction organizations in Canada. Pennecon is looking to build on EUREKA’s and Norway’s expertise, innovation and experience in drilling for oil offshore.
EUREKA PUMPS AS has been in operation for over a hundred years. As a pump supplier with more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, offering a wide range of pumps and generator sets, EUREKA is a market leader among companies operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It supplied over 3000 units to the North Sea Operators alone, and is active in international markets with several projects based on its own innovations and technology. EUREKA has won contracts for the Hebron project off Newfoundland and is looking to expand deliveries in this region with its high calibre fire water pumps, seawater lift pumps, emergency generator sets, and sea water injection pump systems.
Pennecon Chief Executive Officer Larry Puddister, P.Eng. welcomes EUREKA into their shared offices on Water Street. “Eureka has succeeded working with Norway’s NORSOK petroleum industry standards, some of the highest in the world. We want to emulate Norway’s rapid growth from a fishing economy to a global leader in oil & gas and a cold ocean leader with over thousands of active wells in the North Sea. We look forward to expanding EUREKA’s presence here as an original equipment manufacturer capable of serving the offshore from here in our province.”
Mr. Jarle Tautra serves as General Manager and CEO of EUREKA PUMPS AS at Align. “We see Newfoundland and Labrador as the main point of entry to the global sub-arctic, the next frontier in oil field development. St. John’s and the Avalon region is a centre of concentrated infrastructure and innovation with a fresh smart approach to offshore development. It reminds me of Norway.” He added, “The growth of Eureka parallels growth opportunities for NL businesses. We believe partnering for local efficiencies. We are prepared to engage in local innovation and advanced learning.”
Along with opening a local office, Rob Strong, a well-known local business person active in the offshore oil industry since 1980, has joined the Newfoundland Company as a director and will assist Eureka as they establish their presence in this exciting new market place.
